I'm Alessia, a thirtysomething SEO editor at POPSUGAR who has intense passions for rose gold home décor, palm trees, and champagne-colored face highlighters. I'm a fur mom to two rambunctious cats named Grey and Swayze (inspired, of course, by the stars of the 1987 classic film, Dirty Dancing). I live on Long Island in a teeny, tiny apartment where I've really fallen into my roles as cat lady, overambitious plant-lover (read: killer), and Glossier products hoarder. Send help and scratch posts . . . all of my furniture is slowly but surely being ruined.

This blog is my second go-round at for-fun blogging, as I stopped updating my first blog back in July 2016 after four years of pouring my heart into it. Rather than pick up where I left off there, I chose to start over in 2018 with a blog that feels a bit more "me" and can be a place for fresh takes on the types of posts I used to write. I've grown as a writer since my last update on that page, and though I'm not one to disregard my roots or forget where I started, this felt like the right choice for me. I'm super excited to fill this space with my slightly-more-adult-but-LOL-not-really ramblings.

In April 2020, I pulled myself out of my quarantine funk and taught myself digital illustrating. Originally AlessiaIllustrates, ByAlessiaMariee is the small business I've built since then. I sell stickers, mirror decals, fonts, and digital prints on Etsy, create custom illustrations, and drink a lot of coffee to keep it all running smoothly. Read more about it here!
