my favorite photos from our *mini* wedding.

I'm a married woman, y'all! Today marks one month since our backyard wedding day, and though it was completely different than we initially pictured it — we pushed our big party to 2021 due to the pandemic — the celebration was fully perfect in every single way. A post about all of the little details that made our day special is coming soon, but I wanted to share a few of my favorite photos just to scroll through (mostly for me because I truly can't stop).

Initially, I was nervous that all of our photos would look like they were taken, well, in a backyard. My parents have a pretty narrow yard and it's surrounded on three sides by that classic white plastic suburban fencing, which I thought would look so weird in photos. TL;DR: I was worried for nothing.

Our photographer, Jennifer Lam, made everything look dreamy and gorgeous, and even though we were in my parents' backyard, in the photos where you can see the fencing and house doors it still looks like a place where you'd book a wedding. If photos are a priority to you and you can shift around your budget a bit, good photography is worth every. damn. penny. Especially if, like me, you are the type of person to look through photos like this often. I used to sift through our engagement photos once every few weeks just to relive the fun, and that was just Matt and I walking around a farm alone, not a party with actual memories attached to it.

Long story short, I'll be looking at and talking about these photos forever. And when we get a second day to celebrate our love next year (trying to see it solely as a positive thing, because really, despite the stress and frustration and worry over our wedding being pushed, having two weddings is a gift I won't take for granted) we'll have even more photos with all of our people in them.

So here's the best of round one, the happiest day of my life thus far: the day I became a wife, a daughter-in-law, and a sister.
